Lukas: Who knew ASL was so effing hot?

American Sign Language is the sign language used primarily by the deaf (and hearing people who learn it, like yours truly) in the United States and is currently one of my minors at NYU. And now it's also my obsession.

At this point, we've all seen the gay rendition of Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA done on Fire Island. That stuff is old, but the song is still catchy, so when I heard about this video after class today, obviously I decided I had to see it. After seeing it, I've decided I have to learn it.

Then, I got to creeping around YouTube, and I found something, well, really really hot. Like makes-me-want-to-be-fluent-in-ASL-right-now hot. I give you If You Seek Amy, deaf style:

My favorite part about this one is how the author creatively juxtaposed the two videos when Britney sings "If You Seek Amy," a clever trick of pronunciation a deaf person may not be able to understand: in the left frame he's signing "If you seek Amy" and in the left he's simply spelling F-U-C-K. Genius.

I think it's really cool that these guys are trying to allow the (gay) deaf community to enjoy music as much as us hearing folk do. Then again, if the deaf gays are anything like me, they're probably too distracted by the boys to really pay attention to the signs. C'est la vie.

Update: I'm dumb. Apparently Justin has already posted about CaptainL0ver here (repeatedly), a fact that after further investigation I actually remember him doing. But you didn't know that little factoid about the double screen, so I'm going to leave it up. I sincerely apologize to those annoyed by having to watch a hot guy dance around shirtless, again. I'm sure it's a drag.
