Have you ever seen those Warner Bros. Cartoons...

I received the following email from a friend today, with the subject the same as the title of this post. This friend was crushed after Hillary lost and for a while was considering either voting for McCain or not voting at all. I obviously responded strongly to that...and apparently it's had a lasting effect:

Subject: Have you ever seen those Warner Bros. Cartoons...

Text:

where the cartoon character has his conscience show up as a tiny version of him on his shoulders? On one side would be an angel, the other a devil.

Anyway, regardless of whether you're familiar with the concept, that was the image I had an hour ago while I was in the voting machine. You were tiny and sitting on my shoulders. On one side an angel, the other a devil. It was borderline creepy.

I hope you're pleased with yourself.

-E"

Subsequently, we've decided that the devil version of myself is named "Brad Eviley," which causes "the Bradeviley effect." Brad Eviley was telling my friend E that he should leave the President line of his ballot blank, but the angelic version won over. So I am, in fact, pleased with myself.

Soon the first polls close and I agree with Justin below, I'm SO NERVOUS. But I will keep my cool hopefully at the "Swing State Foods"-themed Election Night party I'm off to. I wanted to bring key lime pie, but instead I'm bringing two bottles of wine: a bottle of red from California to represent where I will be married if (when I’m ready) if Proposition 8 (to ban the recently legalized gay marriage) fails and NY still hasn’t legalized it, and a bottle of white from New Zealand, to represent where I’ll be moving if McCain wins the election. Whatever the outcome of the election, I'm sure both bottles will be consumed and with purpose.
